This type of workplace will need both an electric pallet lift and some scissor lift platforms.

Industrial Equipment of Today

Nowadays, there is a vast range of equipment types which you can invest in to help productivity and efficiency within your warehouse. Each business will opt for different items, and you will need to complete thorough research to figure out which equipment types will work best for your staff. We have done some basic research to start you off and found two of the most common equipment types found in warehouses today. Each of these can, in fact, be very different, although ultimately they have similar uses. It’s up to you to decide which is right for you and your businesses. The two items in question are the electric pallet lift, and scissor lift platforms.

Read on to find out which of these two machines is right for your business.

Here is an example of a small, neon yellow, electric pallet lift.

What is an Electric Pallet Lift?

For warehouses who deal mainly in goods moved using pallets, the electric pallet lift is more than likely going to be the superior choice. This machine is used for moving pallets and low level lifting onto shelves and so on. The electric pallet lift has forks at the front of the machine which inserts into the spaces of a pallet and then easily lifts the pallet load upwards, often holding large load weights on these forks. Many electric pallet jacks can be ‘driven’ around the workspace and can be easily charged up using normal plugs.

What are Scissor Lift Platforms?

Scissor lift platforms, as you can see by the image, are quite different from the electric pallet lift in many ways. This is a platform which will have a higher load weight than its competitor and will often carry very different loads. Scissor lift platforms can be used to help staff work at a height, or they can be used to lift materials upwards. They can normally only be moved vertically, due to their structure. You should check before investing in scissor lift platforms, whether your staff may need licenses to operate them, which will depend on the height of the scissor lift in question.

This is an example of what some scissor lift platforms may look like.

Choosing the Right Tools for Your Staff

No matter whether you decide to go for scissor lift platforms, or even the electric pallet lift, you need to make sure that you are making the right decision. Factors you will need to consider include:

  • The types of goods you are storing
  • Your staffs’ experience with product handling equipment
  • The amount of space required to operate the machine
  • The load weight of the goods you are transporting
  • The cost and return on investment in terms of increased efficiency

These are just a few of the things you will need to think about before settling on your final choice for your warehouse or workplace.
